The intriguing home of the artist

FIORE DE HENRIQUEZ

q

When the sculptor Fiore de Henriquez discovered the abandoned hamlet of Peralta in 1967, she immediately fell in love with the place and bought the only house which still had a roof. She subsequently obtained and restored the remaining houses which now form the hamlet. The first house became her home and studio from 1968, and although she also had a studio in London and travelled extensively, her heart was always in Peralta where over the years she created an inspiring retreat for artists and others who needed tranquillity and an inspiring atmosphere. Of course, her house (The Studio) was the epicentre of Peralta until her death in 2004.

The house has never been available for guests, until now.

This wonderful and intriguing home is still full of Fiore’s sculptures, drawings and above all her spirit and is now privately owned by Dinah, who will be letting the house for limited periods during the summer. What an opportunity to spend time in this very special and inspiring space.

The Studio was the first house she restored and became Fiore’s home and her studio. It is now privately owned but its guests can use all the amenities offered by Peralta which include the pool, a bar and dining room, also offering the possibility of ‘takeaway’ dishes to be enjoyed in The Studio.

WELCOME TO THIS UNIQUE SPACE

On the ground Floor, one enters the house from the courtyard into a large living room, dining area and kitchen then via glass doors through to the studio room with all the original sculptures, mainly busts, created by the former owner of this unique house. There are huge, down to the floor, iron frame windows looking out over the valley. These windows take up virtually one whole wall. Really gorgeous views.

FULL IMMERSION IN ART AND NATURE

Outside the studio room is a very private terrace with dining table and apéritivo area where the artist used to love sitting and enjoying the sunset. Bathroom with shower on this floor. From the studio room, an open staircase goes up to the very spacious bedroom which has a bird’s eye view over the valley. The ceiling was handpainted by a fellow artist and it is a very light and airy room.
